Tawonga

Mark is a luthier in Tawonga, where he operates a small instrument making and repair workshop. He also runs an artist retreat, and is behind the Alpine Arts Trail, the Kiewa Valley open studios weekend. He came to lutherie twenty years ago through a mentorship with some of Australia's best guitar makers, went on to help establish the only luthier qualification in Australia, and taught in it for 17 years.

He trained first in ceramic design and photography and ran a ceramic and sculpture studio with his partner Jo, before 35 years in art and design education alongside work as a graphic designer across exhibition design and visual merchandising. He is a firm believer in creative education, access and involvement in the arts.
